We are deeply committed to the health and well-being of our Staff and our Delegates and therefore this summer's offering will be an online experience we're calling Homeshop. We are ironing out our agenda and will open registration soon!



WHAT IS WORKSHOP?

The Launch Summer Leadership Workshop is a 60-year running, five-day, four-night, fun-packed, experiential leadership experience for students entering grades 6 – 12, hosted on Doane University's college campus. We anticipate serving close to 800 students across Nebraska and beyond during our summer season 2020.

Launch Workshop brings out the best in students. We’ve developed an endlessly supportive environment that enables student leaders to let go of their day-to-day baggage and be the best version of themselves. Once they realize their own potential, there’s no turning back. Students are challenged to better understand themselves, those around them, and the impact they can make as leaders, all through a bunch of hands-on activities. Our activities are created to make students think, not tell them how to think, or to give them all of the answers.

We’ve discovered students learn best from each other. Each student is paired with a small group (co-op) for the week. Through their shared experiences, co-ops become like families. Lifelong bonds are formed. Many of our Staffers started as students at Workshop and can attest to how the friendships formed with Launch stick for not just the summer or the school year, but for decades.

99% of students at our 2019 Summer Leadership Workshop reported they would recommend it to friends and family members.


WORKSHOP BASICS

PROGRAMS

We offer three separate Workshop programs, grouped by grades students are entering in the 2020-2021 school year.

Junior High and Middle School (JAM): For students entering grades 6-8 in the 2020-2021 school year.

Senior High (SLW): For students entering grades 9-12 in the 2020-2021 school year.

Advanced (ALW): For students who are entering 12th grade in the 2020-2021 school year, have previously attended at least one Launch Workshop, and want a more formidable Workshop experience.

DATES

2020 in-person Workshops are now Homeshop — July 5-18 (registration info coming soon!).

LOCATION

Workshop is hosted at Doane University in Crete, NE. We take over Doane's entire campus during the weeks of our Workshops. We are not placed in the same buildings as any Doane students or staff.

 


REGISTRATION BASICS

WHEN IS REGISTRATION OPEN?

Registration opens Friday, January 10, 2020 at 6:00 AM. It closes Friday, April 3, 2020 at 11:59 PM.

COST

The regular price of Workshop is $500 this year. This is a departure from our past price (read about why our price changed here), and we are sensitive to your concerns about affordability. For that reason, we are offering an earlybird price for the first week registration is open (January 10 - January 17, 2020) at $425. We also have special pricing available for student organizations and Nebraska schools sending large groups. Talk to your student organization’s advisor or guidance center for more information about registering as a group ahead of registration opening.

If you are applying for a scholarship, the upfront cost to reserve your Workshop spot is $0.

SCHOLARSHIPS

We have more scholarships available than ever for Summer 2020!

All of our scholarships are need-based. For this reason, when you apply for a scholarship, we will need to know your household’s gross income from your 2019 taxes (estimate, if needed) and the number of dependents included in your 2019 taxes.

By applying for a scholarship, you automatically reserve your Workshop spot. We will let you know within a week of receiving your application if you qualify for a full or half scholarship.

If you do not qualify for a scholarship or if you qualify for a half scholarship (bringing the cost of Workshop down to $250), we will email you about how you’d like to pay for the full or partial Workshop cost. We can send you an invoice for the full amount or we can help you set up a payment plan.

PAYMENT PLANS

Payment plans are available to anyone who needs them. There will be a checkout option when you register that creates your plan. You will be required to pay an initial $50 at the time of registration.

STUDENT ORGANIZATION GROUP REGISTRATIONS

We have customized student organization and group registration packages this year. If your student organization has a history of attending Workshop together, we have already contacted your faculty advisor about this package.

If your advisor has not received a group registration request form but would like to, please contact registration@launchleadership.org. We will send one back to you within 24 hours.

These packages reserve spots ahead of registration opening on January 10. Because of that, all group registration requests must be turned in by January 7. After that point, any students without a reserved spot will need to register on their own starting on January 10.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO REGISTER

To expedite your registration process, make sure you know the following or have this information on hand:

  • Student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) - if applicable
  • Student’s Prescribed Medication
  • Medication that should NOT be administered to Student
  • Student’s Allergies
  • Any additional health concerns that may affect Student’s participation in any way, and/or any disability accommodations Launch Leadership should provide during Workshop
  • Family Physician Name & Phone Number
  • Health Insurance Provider and Policy Number
  • Emergency Contact Name and Phone Number (in case a parent/guardian cannot be reached)

If you’re applying for a scholarship, we will also need to know:

  • Household Gross Income on your 2019 taxes (estimate, if needed)
  • Number of dependents included in your 2019 taxes

WAIVERS

When you register for Workshop, there are a few waivers and agreements we require. Here’s the text from each so you may consider them ahead of time:

Medical Waiver: I agree to the terms and conditions outlined below. (Required)

I agree, individually and on behalf of Minor, to release and hold harmless Launch Leadership, Inc., its agents, officers, directors, and employees from liability of any kind, for Minor’s injury, death, or damage to property, that may be sustained by my student while at Workshop.

Medicine Administration Waiver: Select one of the below options.

- Launch Leadership may administer medication (other than those noted as medications to which the student is allergic) without express parent/guardian permission.

- Launch Leadership may NOT administer any medication without express parent/guardian permission.

Please note: Launch has professional medical staff present for the entirety of Workshop and any/all medications go through them. If a student requires anything greater than an over-the-counter painkiller (Advil, Ibuprofen, etc.), antacid, antihistamine, etc. we accompany them to the nearest hospital and get in immediate contact with parents/guardians.

Student Agreement: I agree to the terms and conditions outlined below. (Required)

As a student leader and a representative of my school, I agree to abide by all delegate guidelines and will conduct myself in a way that reflects positively on myself and my school.

Media Release: Yes or No: I agree to the use of my student’s image and/or voice in future public relations and marketing materials to promote Launch Leadership.

Please note: If you select no, we will likely follow up with you. We are happy to make necessary accommodations as needed, but we’ve found this choice can have an adverse effect on students’ Workshop experience.

WAITLIST

If the program or Workshop you’re interested in has sold out, you can still complete your registration to join our waitlist. You will not be charged unless you are moved off the waitlist, in which case we will let you know ahead of time.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOU REGISTER

After you complete registration, you should receive a confirmation email. If you did not receive an email after completing registration, please check your spam folder, then contact us at registration@launchleadership.org. A member of our registration team will check your registration status and get back to you within 24-48 hours.

I NEED TO CHANGE SOMETHING ON MY REGISTRATION

No problem! Just email registration@launchleadership.org. We'll get your info updated!

REFUNDS/CANCELLATIONS

If you missed the EarlyBird2020 discount (applicable from January 10-17), we will allow you to cancel your previous registration and re-register using the discount code on between January 10-12. Email registration@launchleadership.org to make that happen.

As part of our registration process, a non-refundable $50 deposit is required. If you registered for the June Workshop, you can receive a refund of your payment (minus the $50 non-refundable deposit) until June 3, 2020. If you registered for the July Workshop, you can receive a refund of your payment (minus the $50 non-refundable deposit) until July 1. To cancel a registration, send an email to registration@launchleadership.org.
